Dr S. Hancock takes a straightforward approach to counselling, focusing on the individual, empowerment, and the ability to make a significant change.
Dr S. Hancock's clinical expertise includes individual, group, and marital counselling. He also provides psychological testing which measures intelligence/achievement, personality, and career.
Dr S. Hancock has worked with depression, anxiety, adjustment concerns, bipolar disorder, and severe mental illness. He has provided services to both victims and perpetrators of domestic violence, and he has dealt with issues related to grief, suicide, gender identity, sexual disorders and dysfunction, and a general range of difficulties found in marriage.
Dr S. Hancock received his Doctoral Degree in Psychology, Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology, and Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Indianapolis. He is a Licensed Mental Health Counsellor in the state of Indiana, and a member of the American Psychological Association, American Counselling Association, and American Psychotherapy Association.
Prior to coming to Bermuda, Dr S. Hancock had been in private practice, supervised staff and provided counselling services for a domestic violence shelter, and oversaw treatment services for adjudicated youth.
Aside from therapeutic interventions, Dr S. Hancock has taught university and college courses in addition to providing community seminars on a variety of topics. He has completed full psychological assessments for court and testified in court on those assessments.
Dr S. Hancock also helped to construct bylaws which govern the domestic violence shelters and outreach programs in Indiana.
